Viatu Announces Partnership with Journeys Namibia

13.4.2021

We are excited to announce our partnership with Journeys Namibia, a trusted Namibian hospitality management company. Journeys Namibia boasts an exceptional lodge portfolio and a sound sustainability ethos. This partnership gives Viatu travellers the ability to book at any of Journeys Namibias’ notable properties.

Accommodation

Journeys Namibia manages 5 exquisite and exclusive properties, conveniently located near some of Namibia’s most popular landmarks. In the South, guests can enjoy private panoramic views of the mighty Fish River Canyon from Fish River Lodge, the only establishment along the entire rim. At the enigmatic Skeleton Coast, seek refuge amongst the dunes in a shipwreck-shaped cabin. In the North, you can cool off in the rim-flow pool at Grootberg Lodge, while observing black rhino and desert-adapted elephant in the valley below. Experience the rich diversity of Damaraland’s wildlife while staying in a quintessentially African bungalow set amidst the savannah, at Hobatere Lodge. And, for an immersive wilderness experience, camp between granite boulders and mopane trees at Hoada campsite, where the birding is exceptional.

Sustainability

Journeys Namibia pride themselves on their passion for conservation and community upliftment. As pioneers of community-based tourism, Journeys Namibia has successfully established 2 100% community-owned lodges in Namibia. Which includes the first-ever in Namibia, Grootberg Lodge, and Hoada campsite in the ≠Khoadi-//Hôas conservancy. In 2018, this conservancy was recognised as one of the world’s Top 100 sustainable destinations by Green Destinations, due to the positive impact that its tourism has had on local communities. These lodges are completely off the grid and run on solar power. They also offer travellers low-impact guided activities into the surrounding biodiverse wilderness areas, famed for their specially adapted wildlife.

We are delighted about our partnership with Journeys Namibia and we encourage our travellers to book a stay at one of their green lodges.
