Bárbara Reviews: Royal Boutique Hotel

As I moved on to the trendy Camps Bay on my scenic South African trip, I arrived in the perfect spot to satisfy my need for sandy beaches, daily snorkelling routines, a lively gastronomic atmosphere, and sunset views! When I walked into Royal Boutique Hotel, I was pleased to see it revealed a rustic style with exquisite details seen in all its furnishings. Compared to the same group’s contemporary and colourful Pineapple House, this stay’s decor feels more classic. However, they do have plans to renovate soon and will also take the opportunity to upscale and optimise a few things. Be that as it may, this boutique hotel’s views certainly are the best backdrop one could ever ask for!

Location

Royal Boutique Hotel is located in a famous Cape Town neighbourhood, Camps Bay, which is found at the base of the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range. To my delight, the location was not only scenic but also provided me with easy access to sites like Lion’s Head, Table Mountain and Cape Town’s city centre. I loved the ever-present feeling that you are right there in the Camps Bay hotspot!

Activities

I spent a lot of my time swimming in the azure Atlantic Ocean, and I could easily do so as I was a mere 5-minute walk away from Camps Bay’s beach and tidal pool. The area also featured famous and mesmerising kelp forests, although I needed to brave the chilly waters, Wim Hof-style! Otherwise, I also enjoyed the small outdoor pool at the hotel and relaxing in the shady areas next to it. As a bonus, the hotel’s website features fantastic tips for where to eat, drink and explore while supporting local businesses!

Rooms

Providing a classy haven after a long day of exploring, the hotel’s 10 en-suite rooms are uniquely decorated and allow sweeping views of the azure Atlantic Ocean and stunning sunset vistas to boot! The majority of the rooms are relatively large, each uniquely decorated, and come with king-sized beds and en-suite bathrooms. And again, sea views that never end. Much like the free wifi throughout the property!

Food

Royal Boutique Hotel only serves breakfast and drinks during the day, but the quality of what they present to you is impeccable. Most of the food is also locally sourced and organic! For the rest of your meals, you will find a decent strip of drinking and eating spots nearby, and the variety of bars and restaurants will ensure you get your fill in your preferred Capetonian atmosphere.

Sustainability

Although Royal Boutique Hotel can work on a few things, like doing away with their use of plastic water bottles, they show commendable efforts to reduce waste, recycle, promote water efficiency, and use energy-efficient LED bulbs for lighting. This hotel invests a percentage of its revenue into community and sustainability projects. With that, they also support local artists, guides and businesses and educate guests about local ecosystems, heritage and cultures, and visitor etiquette.

My highlights

  • The staff were super helpful and accommodated for early check-ins and late check-outs.

  • The sunset views are amazing and can be enjoyed from the common area or the comfort of your room.

  • Having easy access to the white sandy beaches for refreshing early morning swims in the ocean!

Is it for you?

If you love admiring the ocean and are looking for a place where you can feel close to the vibey Camps Bay atmosphere, Royal Boutique Hotel is the one for you! Because of the stunning sea views, your focus is more on the outside than the interior, although this is also very tasteful. With effortless access to must-visit sites, you are sorted! All you have to do is to book your trip with Viatu today.

In 3 words: convenient, sunsets, beaches
